Pair Traditional Silk Embroidered Sleeve Bands with Auspicious Symbols: C19th China
Item Details.
Dating from the late 19th century, an pair of fine silk embroidered hangings from China.
Hand worked onto a soft apricot silk satin ground and hand embroidered with symbolic motifs and flowers believed to bring wealth, happiness and a long life.
The embroidery includes different stitches and techniques including peking knots worked in varying shades of indigo blues.
The embroideries have been mounted onto card and could also be framed to hang on a wall.
These were originaly sleeve bands from a traditional robe. They would be a lovely addition to a collection and would suit a variety of interior settings.
