A unique hand embroidered bag dating from the 19th century hand worked in silks onto a hand loomed cotton or linen ground.

We believe the embroidery was taken from an earlier, possibly 18th century traditional skirt border, which has been reworked into this shoulder bag.

The elements within the embroidery echo those found in traditional Greek embroidery (see last photo)

The bag has been finished with a fine hand knotted and gilt thread wrapped tassels/fringe.

Measurements: 20cm X 24cm plus 6cm fringe
