Antique Gilt Thread and Sequin Pink Silk Wallhanging: C18th Ottoman Turkey
An amazing find. The perfect faded pink silk with gold gilt thread embroidery and gold metal sequins.
Dating from the 18th century this is as amazing survivor from Ottoman Turkey.
Originally intended as a ceremonial cover, possibly for a wedding or similar celebration.
Covered in fine embroidery worked in gold gilt thread, with bows and ribboning, stalks of wheat meandering around a central medallion.
A wonderful piece the likes of which you only find in museums.
