Antique Oval Silk Embroidery with Birds & Butterflies: C19th Qing dynasty, China
A superb silk embroidered oval shaped panel with birds, flowering wisteria and butterflies dating from the 19th century Qing dynasty.
Beautifully designed to fit this oval shape, we think this as probably made in one of the professional workshops in Canton, China who were produced the best shawls, wallhangings and embroideries throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
This embroidery is in the most beautiful soft coloured silks on a pale cream silk satin. It has a beautifully balanced study of pheasants in a bower of flowering wisteria.
