Antique Rare Bizarre Silk Brocaded Panel Rare: Early C18th France
Item Details.
An exquisite handwoven bizarre silk and gilt thread brocaded panel dating from 18th century French.
This French silk ground damask textile panel, decorated with intricate brocaded patterns of floral and foliate sprays. Produced between approximately 1695 and 1720, typical of European "Bizarre silks”.
Features a coral silk ground with complex, exuberant patterns in pink, white, and gold threads. A brocaded damask, often featuring schematic vegetal and geometric ornaments enlivening the ground.
In a beautifully soft salmon/coral colour with an intricate & complicated brocaded bizarre design incorporating gilt threads, lighter tones of pink all highlighted by silver and gold tones.
Fully lined in a pink cotton and edged in an old gold bullion trim.

Measurements:
85 x 86cm
Condition.
In good antique condition commensurate with age. There are some rubs and losses to the silk but nothing detrimental to the panel as a whole. There are some lovely appliquéd repairs.
