Dating from the second quarter of the 19th century this lovely red and white toile. An intricate finely worked design with lots of detail printed onto a lightweight cotton.
Originating from France, the design of this toile is classically inspired and is heavily influenced by Greek and Roman architecture and interiors which became all the rage during the late 18th and 19th centuries Grand Tour.
A really interesting study piece, or great for design inspiration. I can imagine this translated into some wonderful colour ways.
