A striking Art Deco table cover or wall hanging, hand embroidered in France in the 1920s.
The extraordinary design is heavily influenced by Egyptian design which was inspiring everything at this time, from buildings to clothes and of course, textiles.
The cloth has been expertly embroidered in yellow, charcoal and black mercerised cotton, onto a soft cotton/linen ground, and has been finished with a black binding around the edge of the cloth.
It is in excellent condition from a textile from this era, there are a couple of small marks as to be expected on a textile from this era. It may be possible to reduce or remove these marks with specialist cleaning.
