Chinese Gilt Embroidered Silk Panel with Birds: C19th China

Item Details.
Dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, a very decorative and interesting fine gilt work and silk embroidery from China.

Worked onto a pale coral silk satin ground with very fine hand couched gold gilt wrapped threads and coloured silks the centre has pretty depictions of birds and flowers within a complicated embroidered border which forms a pleasing frame.

This panel would look fabulous be being stretched and mounted for hanging.

Condition: Excellent
In great, usable condition.
Some loose threads around the edges and one small area of discolouration but nothing noticeable or that detracts from the quality and loveliness of this item. All of the items we sell are antique and as such have all the idiosyncrasies of an old and loved textile, so small marks, stains and signs of wear are to be expected and are an inherent part of their charm.
