Japanese Silk Brocade Panel with Fans and Peacock Feathers. Japan C1900
A beautifully subtlety coloured, good sized panel of metallic weave silk brocade, possibly from an obi or sash which would have been worn over a traditional kimono.
Hand woven in Japan it has a fairly stiff structure which would have kept its shape well when worn.
Dating from around 1900, it encompasses traditional design elements of fans, peacock feathers and chrysanthemums.
In excellent antique condition with some wear down the centre where to panel has been folded and worn.
This textile lends itself well to be stretched and mounted or repurposed into something else.
