Ottoman Antique Silk Cutwork & Silver Thread Embroidered Bedcover: C1910 Turkey

Item Details.
On my travels I have had the privilege to see and buy some beautiful textiles. This is no exception- from the Silk Road comes this gorgeous hand embroidered and cutwork silk marriage bedcover.

Made in Asia, probably Turkey in the first half of the 20th century, these Ottoman silk embroidered bedcovers were produced for the best homes and gave an air of opulent luxury which was, and still is, so popular.

Made with a top layer of pale oyster colour silk with real silver wrapped thread embroidery along with net lace in a delightful decorative traditional pattern.

The bedcover is backed with a pretty pale pink silk which shows through the decorative cutwork areas . The cover has a lace and silk decorative edge.

This gorgeous bedcover would suit both modern or more traditional interiors.

166 x 196cm

Condition:
There are some marks where something which may be removed with specialist cleaning. An all over patina of age as to be expected in a domestic textile from this era.
