Pair Fine Silk Embroidered Hanging Panels: C19th China
Item Details.
Dating from the late 19th century, an extraordinary pair of very fine museum worthy gilt and silk embroidered hangings from China.
Hand worked onto a cream silk satin ground and covered with hand embroidered children at play, dancing, playing musical instruments, performing acrobatics and carrying a long dragon.
Fully lined in a pale turquoise silk brocade. The ends of the panles are finished with a chevron of purple silk which has couched metal thread embroidered decoration.
There’s lots of movement and interest in these miniature embroideries and you would never get bored looking at them.
Probably originally made as part of a costume to hang from the waist these panels would look fabulous stretched and mounted and
hung on a wall and would suit a variety of interior settings.
