An English bedcover and Pelmet made from a fine yellow striped yellow ochre silk taffeta with old gold braided arabesque elements and 18th century silk embroidered floral appliqués.
The applied floral motifs have been taken from a much earlier piece, which was most probably damaged, and redesigned and fashioned into this bed set, sometime during the late 19th century.
In excellent antique condition with no damage or marks that we have found apart from on the reverse of the hems which have a residue of glue which tells us that this may have been originally stretched onto a frame as a wall hanging .
