This exquisite antique handmade throw features intricate Assisi embroidery which is a form of counted-thread embroidery based on a Renaissance Italian needlework tradition in which the background is filled with embroidery stitches (cross stitch and Holbein stitch) and the main motifs are outlined but not stitched. The name is derived from the Italian town of Assisi where the modern form of the craft originated.

The warm, faded salmon pink silk embroidery on an off white huckaback cotton cloth which has a floating blocks weave which lends itself perfectly for this type of counted stitch embroidery.

The bedcover has been finished with a handmade crochet edging.

Condition:
In very good antique condition with some historic mends. Slight fading to front of textile which is super soft, would be great to use on a sofa or a day bed to snuggle under.
