Antique Childs Traditional Silk Kimono With Cherry Blossom Embroidery: C1910/20 Japan
Item Details.
Made around 1910 and, we think, designed to be exported to Europe, this small child’s size kimono is a delight!
Traditionally made and in the finest shell pink silk, the top layer has been hand embroidered in silks, with trailing cherry blossom. There is an interlining to give the kimono weight, and the lining is another layer of very fine tissue silk.
The robe fastens with little loops and tiny brass buttons, in the traditional manner of adult garments.
A beautiful thing which deserves to be on display as it’s probably a bit too fragile to be worn.
Measurements.
Taken whilst garment is lying flat
Across front/chest: 26” (66cm)
Nape neck to hem: 19” (49cm)
Condition:
In time worn condition, some historic moth damage, fraying to edges. All the costume we sell is antique and as such small flaws and an overall patina of age is to be expected.
