A panel of hand painted summer gauze dating from the 18th century. Painted in China for export to Europe where it may have been used as a wallhanging or cover.
With traditional decorative motifs, floral borders, butterflies and florals it’s been painted on a light gauze like fabric which suggests it was intended for use in the summer months as a cover.
This looks as though it’s come from a larger sized panel, probably half of the original size.

Condition:
An overall patina of age, some marks to the surface of the textile which could probably be improved upon by a conservator.
