Antique Traditional Silk Embroidered Ottoman Sash or Towel with Grapes: C20th Turkey

Item Details.
A finely hand embroidered ceremonial sash or towel dating from the mid 19th century.

From the Ottoman period these decorative sashes or towels would have been worn and used at special occasions and ceremonies.

Hand worked by a skilled embroiderer using an unusual design with luscious bunches of grapes hand embroidered in brightly coloured silk threads with beaten gold thread detailing.

Each towel is unique and has been worked on a narrow hand woven linen ground. It would make a wonderful addition to a collection.

43cm wide x 175cm long

Condition.
In good antique condition with an overall patina of age and some foxing marks which it may be possible to remove or improve upon with professional cleaning.
