Gold Embroidered Wall Hanging with Birds: C20th Indonesia

Dating from the first half of the 20th century and from Sumatra, Indonesia this stunning traditional decorative wall hanging possibly originally hung in a temple.
Hand worked onto a scarlet red plush fabric - which imitates velvet, with skilled gold gilt thread work which has been couched in place to create a stylised tree of life emerging from an urn and with magnificent birds.
Along the bottom edge is a wonderful zig zag border above which runs an undulating flowering vine.

Condition: In good condition for an embroidery from this era. Some light marks and an overall patina of age as you would expect in a textile from this era.
