Long Silk Embroidered Wall Hanging with Cranes: C1930 Taiwan for export to Europe

A museum quality silk work embroidered long and narrow wallhanging dating from around the 1930s.

Hand embroidered in Vietnam for the European market. The embroidery with symbolic cranes worked in stumpwork which gives them a three dimensional quality.

Embroidered with birds standing and in flight and stylised foliage it’s a highly decorative and pleasing piece.

Skillfully embroidered in blacks, greys and whites onto an off white ground which would suit a wide variety of interior settings.

Measurements:
245 x 73 plus 22cm fringe

Condition:
In excellent antique condition with an overall patina of age and a scattering of foxing marked as you’d expect in an antique textile from this era.
