Pair of Gold Embroidered Ottoman Slippers: C19th Turkey

From Turkey a pair of fine heavily encrusted gold embroidered slippers dating from the Ottoman period mid 19th century.

Handmade from black velvet covered leather which has been heavily embroidered with traditional metal thread work which incorporates coils of gold metal thread twisted and wrapped around a linen thread which is then applied as here, to create traditional decorative motifs.

Highly collectible and decorative they would be a great addition to a collection or for costume study purposes.

They are in never worn condition, an over all patina of age as you would expect in an item of this antiquity.
