Traditional Floss Silk Embroidered Sleeveless Dress: C19th Sindh, Pakistan

A very fine sleeveless dress made from beautifully hand embroidered fine woven cream coloured cotton muslin.

Entirely handmade Sindh Pakistan & dating from the late 19th/early 20th century the work is of highest quality.

The fine cream coloured muslin ground has a check pattern woven through it which has then been hand embroidered with glossy floss silks in a repeating pattern of stylised floral motifs.

Worked in indigo blue and deep crimson red it is a stunning dress. Fully lined in a fine cotton it is light to wear in the heat of India. It has two slit cut pockets and two more conventional pockets on the front.

Condition:

Very good for an antique garment of this age. Some marks to lining and an overall patina of age as you would expect in an antique garment. The embroidery seems to be in excellent condition.
