Circa 1600 English Giltwork Embroiderd Panel
An English cushion face circa 1600 composed of metallic wrapped silk threads, couched metallic threads with silk thread embroidery worked onto a garnet red silk satin ground.
Embroidered with a design of pea pod motifs each containing exquisitely knotted three dimensional peas and also with scrolling floral motifs.
Probably intended as a table centre piece.
The condition is commensurate with the age of this antique textile some rubs and wear to the silk ground, some loose threads and historic darns.
