Dating from the late 19th early 20th century this wonderful silk embroidered and appliquéd child’s hat in the character of a cat traditionally worn at festivals.
In many parts of Asia animals are believed to protect and bring luck, and children would wear these hats at festivals and ceremonies.
Made from red silk satin with applique and decorative embroidery these characterful headdresses make a great display and make an interesting and colourful collection.

Condition.
In very good antique condition, some tiny holes in red silk, wear and losses to edges of silk lining and silk fringing on the ears, an overall patina of age as to be expected in an antique item of this antiquity.
