This is extraordinary! Hand stitched from a wonderful deep red polished chintz with white tracery and indigo blue flowers, this bonnet is from a collection of traditional Folk costume babies bonnets from Marken, the Netherlands. This bonnet is the earliest from our collection and dates from circa 18th century.

Made from an early 18th century hand painted and resist dyed Indian chintz and lined in a hand woven linen and with a traditional embroidered red and white trim all around the edge.

These bonnets were traditionally worn on the back of the head over a fine linen or lace cap.

We have a few examples of these baby bonnets, each one is different and special in their own way. All are listed in our shop, they would make a lovely collection if purchased together.

21cm along bottom edge.
15cm top to base

Condition.
They have some signs of age, minor marks and tiny flaws, nothing which is detrimental to the overall loveliness of each piece.
