Antique Find Gold and Silver Thread Embroidery with Peony and Phoenix: C19th Japan

An ultra fine antique gold and silver thread embroidered silk Japanese hanging panel.

With a large, heavily detailed peony or camellia blossom accompanied by a stylized crane or phoenix soaring above it at the top.

Crafted using highly skilled traditional metallic threadwork. It highlights fine couching embroidery to generate a high-relief, reflective texture.

Embroidered on a deep navy-blue satin base, it utilizes alternating bright gold, muted champagne, and polished silver metallic threads to create depth within the petals and leaves.

Condition:
In good antique condition with some marks at either end which look glue residue possibly where the silk was once attached to a scroll.
