Antique Jacobean Revival Crewelwork Embroidery Tree of Life: C1920 Britain

Dating from the early 20th century this wonderful crewelwork embroidered Jacobean Revival panel from the Arts and Crafts period.
The hand worked embroidery features a stylised flowering Tree of Life in beautiful coloured wools with a magnificent bird of paradise.
There is also a snake wrapping itself around the tree from which huge elaborate foliage and flowers are blossoming. at the trees base is a deer and another bird.
All of these motifs have been inspired by Jacobean embroidery - which refers to embroidery styles that flourished in the reign of King James 1 of England.
Hand embroidered onto a natural cotton twill in coloured wools.

Condition.
In excellent condition with an overall patina of age, and a couple of age related spots which it may be possible to remove by a specialist. All of our textiles are antique and as such have all the idiosyncrasies of old and loved items so small flaws, marks or loose threads, are to be expected.
