Antique Needlepoint Tapestry Embroidery Panel Unfinished: C1900 Britain

Item Details.
Dating from around 1900 this unfinished and therefore never used handmade needlepoint tapestry intended for a chair back. We think this is English, but it may be French, whatever it is definitely from Europe.

I have a penchant for unfinished needlepoints which show the drawing and give them an artists sketch quality.

Hand embroidered in wools dyed with natural dyes in a lovely colourway which would suit most interiors. With flowers emerging from beautifully drawn foliage and a plant with buds which bring to mind, pineapples, pomegranates and peonie buds just before they burst into flower.

The shading and attention to detail on the foliage and flowers is very fine and has been worked by a skilled and artistic hand.

This needlework embroidery has never been used and would benefit by being stretched and mounted, a service we can offer from our professional textile conservation studio.
