Antique Santos Saint Ecclesiastical Statue Headdress: C19th France

Dating from the 19th century, this amazing collectable handmade santos crown from France, where it once would have adorned a statue of a saint/santos in a church .

A sublimely simple design with a band which rises towards the centre to a point which is topped with a decorative star.

Beautifully made from silver metal which over time has become a pewter colour the patina and feel of this crown is just beautiful in every way.

Dating from the 1920s a fine, cream embroidered silk ‘piano’ shawl with an abundance of hand embroidered flowers and long hand knotted silk fringe.

Hand embroidered with cream silk threads onto cream silk ground making this shawl perfect for a bride/wedding

Professionaly embroidered in one of the many specialist workhops in Canton, China for export to the fashionable European market.

Measurements.
125 X 133cm + 30cm silk fringe.

Condition.
In excellent antique condition with some loose threads, nothing detrimental to the shawl as a whole.

Condition: Very Good
An overall patina of age as you’d expect in an item from this era.
