Antique Silk Embroidered Art Deco Wallhanging with Peacocks and Foliage: C1900 Vietnam

An absolutely stunning silk embroidered wallhanging dating from around 1900/1910.
Hand embroidered in Asia, probably Vietnam for export to the European.

We have never had a hanging quite like this one which is almost entirely covered in gorgeous embroidery, the peacocks and leaves are beautifully observed and depicted. This is a work of art in the truest sense of the word and deserves to be hung in a very special place.

Embroidered in beautiful gradated colours onto a deep cerise pink ground this would suit a wide variety of interior settings, behind a bed, in an entrance hall

217cm long x 140cm wide

Condition:
In good antique condition with an overall patina of age as you’d expect in a textile from this age and era. Some historic mends and some breaks in the silk which we can repair in our dedicated textile conservation studio. Please ask us for details.
