Antique Smocked Indigo Linen Dress: C19th Slovakia

Item Details.
An extraordinary smocked underdress, party of a traditional Folk Costume from Slovakia.

This dress would have been worn under a bodice, blouse with decorative embroidered sleeves and a decorative apron.

The dress has amazing pleating and could be worn today just as it is from a funky look.

Dyed indigo blue, we are not sure if this is original or if it was dyed at a later point in its history as we’ve only ever seen these in white previously.

Condition. In good antique condition with some fraying around the top edges. All of our items are antique and so small flaws, signs of wear and a patina of age are to be expected and are part of the garments story and history.
