Antique Fine Toleware Award in Original Box: C1924 France
An extraordinary gold gilt metal award in its original silk lined box dated ‘1924, St Gelais’ France.
We believe these were awarded to writers and they have a mix of oak and laurel leaves with acorns.
Extraordinarily detailed and quite beautiful the branches are ‘tied’ together with an elaborate ribbon and have a round label at its centre engraved with the recipient’s name.
This award has a metal stand included so that it can rest on a shelf or mantel, but equally it could be hung on a wall, and looks fantastic against a dark colour background.
The original cardboard box has a dark olive green silk lining against which to gold really zings!
Measurements:Award: 38 x 11 cm
Box: 40 x 18.5 cm
Condition:In very good antique condition. Some minor marks but nothing that detracts. The boxes silk ‘hinges’ have shattered, but could be replaced.
