This is extraordinary! From a collection of traditional chintz babies bonnets from Marken, The Netherlands circa 1800's to 1900.

An antique 19th-century baby's chintz bonnet from the traditional folk costume of Marken, Netherlands.

Handcrafted using a fine printed
chintz fabric featuring a honeycomb or netting pattern layered over stylized floral and leaf motifs.

Finished along the edges with a characteristic intricate geometric dark and light patterned ribbon border.

This specific shape and style forms a documented part of historical Dutch regional dress worn by infants on the island of Marken.

We have 5 of these bonnets, each different and special in their own way. All are listed in our shop, they would make a lovely collection if purchased together.

Measurements:
7cm high x 10cm across

Condition.
Some signs of wear, commensurate with age, some minor marks and tiny flaws, nothing which is detrimental to the overall loveliness of each piece.
