Antique Miniature Watercolour Portrait Young Woman Grand Tour Costume Study: C18th Europe
A pretty miniature watercolour portrait of a fashionable young woman C18th in typical dress of the period.
Wearing a turban type headdress, she has is dressed in a green undergarment and has a pretty blue jacket with ruffles running down the front openings. She wears a ribbon chocked around her neck.
The painting in presented in its original glazed oval frame with gilt painted edged mount, the frame has a tiny integral hanging loop at the top by which it hangs.
This portrait would have been presented to a loved one who may have carried it with them on the Grand Tour, much as we would a photograph.

4 x 2.5cm miniature painting
Condition: Good overall condition with some slight rubs to paint. The back looks as if it’s been opened at some point in its history.
