A charming and early whitework embroidery hand embroidered signed and dated ‘Jane Horns work 1825.’
The sampler has a gorgeous nïave quality and depicts a cornucopia (horn of plenty) full of flowers.
We think this was probably made be a schoolgirl and describe it as a sampler because it employs many different stitches and techniques.
Its a beautiful piece, possibly made as a tray cover or cover for a piece of furniture.
A lovely piece which deserves to be part of a display or collection.
