This is a highly decorative antique heraldic armorial banner. Boasting a variety of embroidery stitches and techniques including traditional gilt thread embroidery and stumpwork.
Stitched onto a white silk satin ground it has a central depiction of a shield topped by a decorative crown or coronet studded with pearls. This may have been the family crest of an aristocrat.
Would look fabulous as a centrepiece on a cushion or above a fireplace etc.
Dating from the mid 19th century.
