Arts and Crafts Hand Block Printed Folk Art Bedcover: C1910 Britain
Item Details.
Dating from the early 20th century a wonderful Arts and Crafts era hand block printed linen bedcover made to fit a single bed.
The top of the bedcover is in a lighter and slightly different colour way than the sides and valance which is a darker biscuit colour linen with the print in brick red orange and green.
With a delightfuly bold folk art design of florals and foliage in green, orangey red and yellow on natural linen ground.
This design reminds me of Peggy Angus who I worked with in my teens block printing wall paper in her studio in Camden in the 1970s.
Measurements:
flat top: 102cm
length: 183cm
valance: 38cm
Condition.
The bed cover is in good condition for an antique of this era. The top is lighter in colour than the sides which have some foxing/ water marks. All of the things we sell are antique and may have some of the idiosyncrasies of aged and loved pieces so small marks, stains and signs of wear are to be expected and are an inherent part of their charm and history
