A wall hanging or more probably a woman’s shawl from Tunisia, Northwest Africa dating from around 1910.

Embroidered motifs include human figures, fish, birds, trees of life and a camel, all worked in silks with some beadwork in a smooth flat woollen ground.

The condition is very good for a textile of this age. There are a couple of tiny historic mends and some of the embroidery has rubs and wear, all as you would expect in an antique textile.

Measurements: 137 x 105 cm.
