Dating from 1757, and hand embroidered in Rome, Italy, a fine crewelwork embroidery with depictions of classical scenes including temples, columns and butterflies and birds.
Two embroidered panels echo each other and are mounted together with a handmade linen or cotton lace border presumably by the same hand.
The embroideries have been stretched over covered conservation boards and are ready to be framed or hung as they are.
In good antique condition with some light foxing, and an overall patina of age as to be expected in a textile of this antiquity.
