Gilt Embroidered Arts and Crafts Photograph frame: Circa 1890s English
An interesting hand embroidered frame dating from the Arts and Crafts era, late 19th century.
Expertly hand worked in gold and silver gilt threads onto a silk ground, it has been finished and edged in an old gold gilt brocade braid.
The back is lined in a light blue cotton and it has an integral hanging ring at the top of the frame back.
In good antique order, some rubs to the surface of the silk ground, and some tarnishing to the surface of the gilt thread embroidery.
The picture of Oscar Wild is a postcard reproduction from the V&A, London and is included with the frame.
