I absolutely love this….a hand-painted chinoiserie silk panel dating from around 1800/1820 – it would possibly have been made for wallcovering or bordering a room.
Beautifully executed by a skilled craftsperson in the Chinoiserie style so popular at this time.
It depicts stylised flowers and foliage climbing up a pretty bamboo trellis.
Era and Usage.
This piece would look wonderful in a frame or mounted. The condition of the painting is incredible with colours as fresh as the day it was created. Sadly the silk grosgrain is spitting in places and needs to be handled with the utmost care.
