Handmade Victorian Silk Velvet Embroidered Shelf Pelmets x 3: C19th Britain

Item Details.
A collection of three folk art shelf pelmets, with hand embroidery dating from the Victorian era.Wonderfully decorative these pelmets are a delight!

Entirely hand stitched they have been made from a variety of deep coloured velvets and broadcloth, possibly off-cuts from soldiers uniforms, cut into strips, laid down and stitched into place onto a ticking ground. They have then been decorated with a variety of silk embroidery stitches and patterns.

These gorgeous pelmets would suit most interior settings and would work well joined together as a Pelmet above a window or alcove, as edging on a shelves in a cupboard.

Measurements: Each pelmet,
65cm across x 13.5cm high

Condition: In good antique condition with an attractive time worn look which we think only adds to the overall loveliness of these special textiles.
