A very fine traditional Ottoman embroidered cape dating from the mid 19th century.
The lace has been added a little later to suit the fashionable european taste.

The cape is embellished with decorative couched gold gilt embroidery on a smooth white wool felt ground.

A highly decorative museum quality heirloom item of costume with traditional embroidery and decorative motifs passed down through the generations.

Across shoulders: 16 inches (41 cm)
Length: 21.5 inches (55 cm)
Collar: 3.5 inches (9.5 cm) tall

Condition:
In very good antique condition, some loose threads and signs of wear and an overall patina of age as you would expect from an item of this era. Soft cotton lining has wear around neck and some foxing marks.
