Queen Anne Embroidered Appliqué Panel with Figures: Early C18th English
A charming early silk and gilt work embroidery with delightful floral motifs and a central depiction of two female figures surrounded by a wreath of flowers.
Included are beautifully depicted stylised flowers including daffodils, pansies, and tulips.
Worked onto a black silk satin with a central quatrefoil shape in cream silk taffeta.
Hand worked in softly coloured silks and with couched gilt embroidery, this is such a delightful piece.
It has been previously mounted rather crudely and presented in a gilt frame which has some losses. It would greatly benefit from being professionally stretched and mounted and reframed in a manner that would preserve it better for the future. This is a service that we are pleased to offer, please ask us for details.
