Hand blockprinted Mezzaro, wall hanging or bedcover. Made in Genoa, around the mid 19th century, mezzaros were inspired by Indian Palampores and chintzes. Depicting a tree of life, with various wild animals and exotic birds.
Printed onto fine cotton ground. Unusual light fresh colouring in pinks and mustard yellows.
Originally found in two halves, our Stroud based studios have conserved and reunited both parts to make whole. Bottom border is missing.
