Miniature Hand-painted Watercolour Portrait Lady with Intricate Lace Collar: C1800 English

A lovely antique hand painted watercolour portrait of woman dating from the early 1800s in her wearing a highly complicated and decorative lace collar and headdress. She wears a red empire line dress and has a black lace shawl around her shoulders which were the height of fashion during the Regency period.

Although the painting is naive and probably painted by a family member rather than a professional it has exquisite detail and is painted by someone, I like to think a woman with an interest in costume.

This would be a lovely addition to a collection and is also an excellent reference for costume of the period.

The painting is presented in a period laminated wood frame.

It is good antique condition with some foxing and an overall patina of age. The frame has some knocks to the corners and some blemishes to the surface.
