Dating from the turn of the 19th/20th centuries, this exquisite textile is an antique block-printed linen pattern featuring a classic Chinoiserie design with vibrant birds of paradise and lush floral motifs on a stark black background.

Historically, these highly detailed botanical and avian patterns were meticulously handcrafted using carved wooden blocks to stamp individual colors sequentially onto the fabric.

The rich pink, yellow, and blue jewel tones pop dramatically against the deep charcoal of the background

The Bird of Paradise Motif symbolizes elegance and exotic luxury, a staple theme in 18th and 19th-century European interior design inspired by Asian art.

This was originally created for high-impact statements via upholstery, drapery, wall hangings, or accent cushions.
