Ottoman Silk and Silver Thread Woven Traditional Wedding Quilt Bedcover: late 19th early 20th Century

On my travels I have had the privilege to see and buy some beautiful textiles. This is no exception- from the Silk Road comes this gorgeous sugar pink and silver brocade quilted bedcover and pillow case.

Made in Asia in the late 19th century, these covers were produced for the best homes and gave an air of opulent luxury which was, and still is, so popular. Using real silver wrapped thread in the brocade, the combination of silver and sugar almond pink is exquisite!

The bedcover is quilted with a fine cotton filling and is backed with pink cotton. The cover has been edged with a handmade lace in a paler pink and finished with a silver wrapped silky cord edging.

This gorgeous bedcover would suit both modern or more traditional interiors.

65.5 x 76 inches (166 x 193 cm)

Condition: Very Good.
It’s in great condition for an item of this age and has obviously been sorted away carefully- perhaps as part of a bridal trousseau. There are some marks where something has been spilt in the past which may be removed with specialist cleaning.
