Pair of Gilt Metal Buckles, Owls and Dogs: France C19th
Dating form the mid 19th century, France, a pair of gilt metal buckles, or cloak fastenings.
With an extraordinary attention to detail, the beautifully depicted owls have been made in a pewter coloured gilt metal while the setters or spaniels are in old gold gilt metal.
They have come from a larger collection of buckles and buttons, all hand crafted by the same hand and in unused condition on their original sample or display cards. Please see our other listings for more examples.
They are in excellent condition, the original card has an overall patina of age and has some knocks and rubs to the corners and a crease, as you would expect in an item of this antiquity.
These would benefit form being mounted and framed with box frames.
