Designed in 1953 by Hilda Durkin for Liberty London this screen printed textile ‘Night Garden’.
Heavily influenced by the work of Paul Klee it has a wonderful sketchy hand drawn style, in dark midnight blue with red, grey and taupe.
Produced as a screen printed textile for Liberty’s in the post war years when there was a growing interest in modernism, and designers broke away from the conformities of the pre-war years, textile designers such as Lycian Day made their names.
This is a good sized panel which lends itself well to being stretched and mounted, a service we are pleased to offer from our textile conservation studio. Please contact us for details.
In excellent condition with one historic repair.
