Silk Brocade and Velvet Eastern European Bodice: Traditional Folk Costume.
From the late 19th century a plum colour silk brocade bodice from Eastern Europe. part of a woman’s traditional costume and made with a silk brocade woven through with gold thread.
The bodice has silk velvet side panels and laces up down the centre front. it has adjustable shoulder straps and has been finished with a brocade braid and hand woven gold gilt trim. The bodice is lined in a hand loomed calico.
In good antique condition, some rubs and wear to the surface of the ribbon braid trim, particularly under the armed area.
