Silk Embroidered Wedding Bonnet with Gold Gilt Trim and Spangles: C18th European
A lovely example of a wedding bonnet from the 18th century, possibly French.
Made from embroidered cream silk satin and further decorated with spangles and appliquéd coloured fine metal pieces to suggest jewels.
Wide bands of gold gilt run around the bonnet sides and down the centre back, and the bonnet is gathered at the back with its original gold gilt woven ribbon tie.
In excellent antique condition for an item of costume from this era. Some losses to silk embroidery a few small holes and an overall patina of age as to be expected in an item of this antiquity.
Measurements: 24cm H X 28 cm front to back
